Thomas Leo DeFer, age 81 of Kentwood, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 6, 2014. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard “Dick” and Leo. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Marilyn; children, Thomas (Mary) DeFer, Karen (Joe) Naimo, Sara (Pat) Meyers; grandchildren, Leah, and Josiah DeFer, Laura (Matt) Kraft, Pamela (Ryan) Diephuis, Joshua (Janna) Naimo, Craig, Eric (Courtney), Allison, Ryan, and Conner Meyers; great grandchildren, Aiden, Harper, Olivia, Austin; brother, Harry (Ana-Marie) DeFer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron (Barb) Clinton, Dan (Liz) Clinton, Dave (Jan) Clinton; also many nieces and nephews. Tom’s greatest loves were his Savior, Jesus Christ, and his family. He displayed Christ-like character in every area of his life. Tom will be remembered for his high moral character, charity, wisdom, mercy and humility. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Tom proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict and was employed for 36 years at Michigan National Bank, retiring as Vice-President of the Trust Department.
