Theodore John Wietke

Theodore “Ted” Wietke, age 95, of Grand Rapids, went to Heaven, Monday July 6, 2020. He was preceded in death by his son, Chris in 1989. Ted is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Kay; children, Paula (Jeff) McDonald, Ted “Tee” Wietke, Kim (Paul) Galdes; grandchildren, Sean, Kevin McDonald, Emily (Sara) Dailey, Maggie (Scott) Barker, Christopher “CJ” (Meg) Galdes, Claire Galdes; great-grandchildren, Autumn, Norah, Cohen Christopher; brother & sister-in-law, Monte (Sandy) Bates; and several nieces and nephews. Ted served in the United States Army in WWII. After graduating from Michigan State in 1950, he had a 40 year career in Publishing and Industrial Catalog sales. Ted’s pleasant and outgoing personality enabled him to engage anyone in a friendly conversation. He was a member of Golden Kiwanis, and sang in barbershop quartets, choruses, and Church choirs for many years. Ted was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and provider. He loved watching the Detroit Tigers, MSU sports, and professional golf.  Because of the current restrictions, the family will have a private service at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel. Rev. Molly Bosscher officiating. Interment Graceland Cemetery. Cards may be sent to Kay at Porter Hills 3600 Fulton, AC 228, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.     I’m so sorry to hear of your loss of Ted. He was a friendly, jovial man that always had a smile and a kind word to share. He will be missed not only by family, but by many who were privileged to know him.
