Stephen David Carlson, our beloved husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather was taken to our Lord and Savior on September 16, 2020. Stephen was an Army Veteran (1953-1955). He is survived by his wife, Shirley Carlson of 60 years; along with his children, Jana (Ken) Thomas, Randall (Linda Pavledes) Carlson and Gregory (Renee) Carlson. He was a grandfather to Daniel Thomas, Matthew Thomas, Kylee (Rick) McGregor, Stephanie Carlson, and great-grandfather to Nathan, Royce, and Roger. He is survived by his sister, Joan Potter, and brother, Marvin Carlson. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Jerry (Roberta) Bruinekool, Lee (Barb) Bruinekool; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Bruinekool, Dorothy Walling, and Elizabeth Smith. As well as nephews, nieces, and cousins. Stephen retired after 45 years of Carpentry. He was once a farm hand at Holiday Farms of Ada. He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking and volunteering with his wife, Shirley, at Amway Disaster Relief Team, Flat River Outreach Ministries, and during the winter he volunteered for Santa Claus Girls. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2020 at Roth-Gerst Funeral Home, 305 N. Hudson St. Lowell, MI 49331, and one-hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at First United Methodist Church, 621 E. Main Street, Lowell, MI 49331. Rev. Brad Brillhart officiating. Per the executive order in place, those in attendance at both the visitation and funeral, must wear a face covering.
