Ruth Marie O’Neill Tierney, age 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 15, 2024. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Marie O’Neill; father, Vincent O’Neill; daughter, Mary Therese Tierney; precious grandson, Corbin Tierney; sister, Patricia (Warren) O’Neill Eardley; nephew, Daniel Eardley; sisters-in-law, Virginia (Bill) Bricker, Marge (Bill) Thiebout. Ruth (Joe’s Princess) is survived by her husband of 70 years, Joseph Tierney; children, Michael (Beth) Tierney, Patrick (Sandra) Tierney, Maureen (Phillip) Bednarek, Timothy (Gretchen) Tierney, Kerry (Steven) Nugent, Brian (Heidi) Tierney; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren with 3 blessings on the way; She is also survived by her dear niece, Kathleen Lowing; nephews, Terry (Debbie) Bricker, Jim Bricker; Bill (Arlene) Thiebout; and many more family members.

She was an active life-long member at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Ruth also belonged to Our Lady of Hope prayer group for over 40 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed golfing, playing Bridge, bowling, and spending time at her children’s cottages. Above all she cherished time spent being surrounded by family. Ruth’s biggest loves were her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

The family will greet friends and relatives from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Home, 3980 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546, with a Rosary at 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1935 Plymouth Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506, with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Troy Nevins presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.   1. I am sorry to hear of the passing of Momma Tierney (Steve just told me). Joe and Kerry, there are no words for your loss! My heart is aching for you. There is comfort in knowing she is not struggling anymore. Kerry I am lost for words!!! We love all of your entire family, Damon and Nancy
