Matthew Fitzpatrick

Matthew Dana Fitzpatrick, age 26, of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away unexpectedly on December 2, 2019. Visitation will be held at O’Brien-Gerst Funeral Home, 3980 Cascade Rd, SE, Grand Rapids on Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., followed by a time of sharing from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., and a Rosary to follow at 6:00 P.M. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1449 Wilcox Park Drive SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506 with Father James Chelich presiding. Matthew was born in Grand Rapids, MI to Patrick and Martha Fitzpatrick (Siebart) on December 15, 1992.  He graduated from Northview High School.  Matthew received an Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) from Grand Rapids Community College. He was an exceptional student who continued to pursue his education, and loved to read. He worked as an RN for Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation in Grand Rapids, MI.  Matt had a strong community of friends at Kava Kasa, where he facilitated trivia night. He had a sweet Collie, Boone, which he loved to take for long walks. Matt loved to travel, and spent weeks at a time in other countries, and various cities/states, making lasting friendships everywhere he went. He had a huge heart and shared his love with all he encountered. Matt is deeply loved by his friends and family, and he will be greatly missed. His grandparents, Frank and Norma Fitzpatrick and Pete and Bonnie Siebart preceded Matthew in death.  Matthew is survived by his parents, Patrick and Martha Fitzpatrick, sister Valerie (Paul Beuschel) Fitzpatrick, sister Erin (Tom) Wohlberg, and their children Juniper & Finley, sister Angie Fitzpatrick, brother Brandan Fitzpatrick and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to O’Brien-Gerst Funeral Home to help with expenses.
