John Jack A. Westerman

WESTERMAN – John A. Jack Westerman aged 83 of Grand Rapids passed away June 29 2009. Jack was always willing to extend a hardy handshake to strangers as well as friends. His hobbies included golf bowling bridge and poker. He cherished his family friends the Lions club of which he was a past president and his Church Community. Jack loved sharing meals drinks jokes and sing-alongs. His hospitality was legendary; everyone was always welcome in his home. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Marie Westerman; brother Robert Westerman; sister Clare Boeckh; brothers-in-law Hubert Engemann and Edward Mayes. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Barbara; children Joseph Westerman Ann Westerman and John (Ginger) Westerman; granddaughter Melissa Titov; great-granddaughter Lilla Titov; brother and sisters-in-law Donna Engemann; Joe (Nancy) Engemann and Jane Mayes; many cherished nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Paul the Apostle Church 2750 Burton SE Msgr. Ernest P. Schneider presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Vigil service will be 7:00 PM. Visitation 3-8 PM at the OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd. SE. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Rapids Lions Club 258 Morris Ave. SE Grand Rapids MI 49503.
