DOLAN – Mrs. Helen L. Dolan age 88 passed away peacefully January 5 2009 at Raybrook Manor in Grand Rapids. Helen was born February 6 1920 to Glenn and Agnes McHugh. She was preceded in death by her mother Agnes Scheid McHugh her father Glenn Patrick McHugh her brother William Howard McHugh her sister Margaret Mary McHugh and her sister Elizabeth (Betty) McGee. Helens first husband Mark Dolan died in 1982. In 1992 Helen married Ray Johnson who died in 2001. Helen is survived by her sister Mary Agnes (Mickey) Hieshetter and her husband William (Bill) Hieshetter. She is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews: Mary Bower Mike (Sue) Hieshetter Kiki (Mike) Lown Helen (Paul) Vruggink Sara (Tom) Antonucci Marge (Fran) Crotty Kim (Mary Lee) McGee Kathleen (Mike) Finn John (Alice) McGee David (Jean) McGee and Peter (Vero) McGee. Helen has thirty-five great nieces and nephews. Helen a native Grand Rapidian loved Grand Rapids as she spent her entire life here. Very young she worked as an usher at the Regent then Center Theater. She met and married her husband Mark Dolan in 1940. Helen worked a variety of jobs but she always excelled in sales. She worked at Wurzburgs Herpolsheimers the Boston Store Franklin Life Insurance Co., and Klingman Furniture Company. Helen loved her customers and made lifelong friendships with those she served. A lifelong member of Saint Thomas the Apostle parish Helen was served weekly by Ministers of the Eucharist to whom we are grateful. Further the family wishes to thank Raybrook Manors staff for the outstanding care and love Helen and her family shared for almost five years. Visitation will be January 18 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Home 3980 Cascade Rd.,SE. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James Chelich at St Thomas the Apostle Church 1449 Wilcox Park Dr. SE at 10:30 am on January 19. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Marywood Dominicans of Grand Rapids St Thomas Education Foundation or Holland Home Raybrook Manor.
