Fred H. Nalett, age 96 of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 30, 2016, with his family by his side into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born in Kinross, Michigan, grew up in Lansing and in 1968, he was transferred from the Detroit area to Grand Rapids by the Kelvinator Company. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Wanda (Kowal) Nalett; son Robert (Julieanna) Nalett; daughters Karen (Ron) Goulet, Marla (Tim) Weston; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; sister, Liz (Gerald) Massey of California; and loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Nellie (Bogart) Nalett; and 7 siblings. Fred was a WWII Army veteran who participated in the invasion of Normandy, he was awarded numerous metals including 5 bronze stars. He retired after 36 years from Kelvinator as a refrigeration engineer. After retirement he worked for Syncor delivering nuclear medicine to southwest Michigan hospitals. He was a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed golf well into his ninties, teaching his grandchildren the game at a young age, along with the kids at Watermark Country Club. Fred had a wonderful retirement with his wife Wanda traveling to spend time with family. He taught his family well through his living what was important, faith, family, hard work and fun! He was a member of St. Robert’s for 46 years and will be dearly missed! Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 2, 11:00 a.m. at St. Robert of Newminster Church, 6477 Ada Dr., Ada. Rev. Leonard Sudlik presiding.
