Alan Steger, age 83, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2024, from natural causes at Provincial Living of Forest Hills. He leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Betsy, his much-loved family, son Neil and his wife Sarah, his two grandchildren Owen and Ruby all to whom he was loving and generous.
Al was a Detroit native, a 1962 graduate of the University of Michigan and a 1966 graduate of Detroit College of Law. He worked in the patent law department at General Motors while attending evening law school and then for other corporations as a legal counsel including ten years at Owens Illinois in Toledo. The family moved to East Grand Rapids in late 1978 and Al began his second career building a successful State Farm agency in East Grand Rapids in Gaslight Village for 20 years. He was an avid runner and fitness advocate and could be seen often running around Reeds Lake. His favorite travel spots included La Jolla, Big Sur, CA and Frankfurt MI.
