Wedad Lambert

Wedad Lambert, age 90 of Grand Rapids, died Sunday, January 12, 2020.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lambert; parents, George and Nabeha Sarkees; brother, Fred Sarkees and son, Mark Lambert.  She is survived by her children, Cheryl and David DeAvila, Brett and Cheryl Lambert, Tanya and Jim Noordyke and Karla Lambert; grandchildren, Jillian Lambert, Cara (Michael) Molling, Paige Huizenga, Carson Noordyke, Clare (Gian) Delgado, Emily, Maddie, Luke and Timmy Lambert; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Eli Molling.  Wedad was a proud graduate of Grand Rapids Catholic Central Class of 1949 and a true Notre Dame fan.  She was a long-time employee of the Grand Rapids Press.  Wedad always had a smile and a kind word for everyone especially for her friends at Heron Manor, where she lived for 8 years.  Wedad was especially proud of her Wii bowling skills and once bowled a perfect 300 game!!  She loved and was so proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would talk with and about them for as long as you would listen.  Wedad loved everyone “with a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck”.  She made everyone feel like they were the most important person in the room.   Visitation will be Thursday, January 16, 3:00 – 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at the O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd., SE.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday 2:00 PM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, where she had been a member for 72 years, 1449 Wilcox Park Dr. SE, Rev. James Chelich, presiding.  Interment Resurrection Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages donations to Emmanuel Hospice, 401 Hall Street, Ste 263, Grand Rapids, MI  49503
