SHERWOOD – Wallace Francis Sherwood born in the village of East Grand Rapids on October 4 1917 died September 24 2008 in East Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Frances E. Sherwood; sisters Mary Alice McKee and Ann J. Schmidt; brother David A. Sherwood. He is survived by his children Catherine Sherwood William (Joanne) Sherwood Virginia Sherwood and Mary Kathryn Johnson heart chosen child; grandchildren Emily Scott Beatrice Elizabeth and Madelyne Sherwood; niece Mary McKee; cousin Widdicomb Sherwood Schmidt and dear friend Harold Wilmarth. He served in the Army Medical Corps during World War II. Wallace was a lifelong parishioner of St. Stephens Parish a volunteer at Blodgett Memorial Hospital for many years and was a volunteer fireman for 16 years with the city of East Grand Rapids. He lived his life with hope grace and courage always the consummate gentleman. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM at the OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd. SE Pastor David Fleming of Our Savior Lutheran Church officiating. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM.
