Lexington, MA – April 19, 1775
Truman always liked to remind his friends his ancestors were paving the way for all you Johnny come latelies.
As a young person, Truman went to Grand Rapids Central High School and then transferred to Comstock Park High School where he was active in sports; football, basketball, and track. After graduating from high school in 1953, he became a prominent architectural designer and has had over 10,000 homes built from his plans throughout Michigan and northern Indiana. Also he has designed over 7,000 apartment and condominium complexes during his lifetime. He was survived by his wife Sharon Cowles, children; Stuart (Joyce) Cowles, Anne (Roger) Knouse, Mary Ellen (Greg) Schrock, Tracie (Dave) Hise, and Todd (Lindsay) Cowles; grandchildren, Madison Cowles, Aaron and Sandra Schrock, and Olivia and Gabbi Hise; brothers, Curt (Jan) Cowles, Tom (Dotty) Cowles, Cory (Judy) Cowles, and George Cowles. Being a die-hard Michigan fan decked out in his Michigan gear, Truman passed away after Michigan shut out BYU 31-0 surrounded by family. He wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Funeral Service will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids. Rev. Paul H. Schneider of Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran Church officiating. Interment Lakeside Cemetery. The family will greet friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel.
