Steven “Mort” James McLean, age 63 of Clarksville, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 4, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father, James McLean; and sister, Deb Alkema. Steve is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jan McLean; daughters, Haley and Madison McLean; mother, Mary McLean; brothers Tom (Kim) McLean, Jay (Linda) McLean; sister Karen (Chris) Yost; brothers-in-law Scott (Heather) Alkema, Steve (Deb) Perry; sister-in-law Holly (Vernon) Nyhuis; and many nieces and nephews. Steve graduated from MSU and was a diehard State fan. He was a loyal and dedicated employee of Amway; the company from which he retired. He loved hosting his friends for parties. Steve will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 7, from 5-8:00 p.m. at Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell, MI 49331. Funeral service will be held Friday, June 8, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Deacon Mike Mauer officiating. Interment Clarksville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 129 Jefferson Ave. S.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49503.

Jan and family, I am so sorry for you loss. I knew Steve well at Amway. He was a good person and friend.

My heart broke to hear of Steve’s passing. I have shared with so many people over the years what a huge part both of you played during a difficult time in my life. You taught me many life lessons and altered my path in such a positive way. I wish I would have shared that with Steve when I had the opportunity. Jan I hope your heart is comforted to know just how loved you are. Heaven called home a most amazing angel.
