ROBERT JAY HUSTON, age 65 of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeannine Huston, and step-mother, Rose Mary. He is survived by his father, W. Jay Huston; children, April J. Jones, Jay M. Huston; brothers, John A. (Cheri), Daniel T., Christopher A. (Beverly), David J., William P. (Debra), Paul J. (Darla), James M. (Julie); sisters, Margaret M. (Michael) Soules, Catherine A. (Karen) Huston, Donna M. (Mark) Hogan; grandchildren, Kelley (Dustin) Grubb, Malerie (Terry) Moran, Ryan Logan; great grandchildren, Darin, Jesse, Waylon, Gunner; and best friends, Janice and Walter Zeller; godchild Tasha Zeller. Robert served in the US Army 2nd Battalion, 63rd Armor, 1st Infantry Division. He was employed at GM in both Sandusky, OH and St. Louis, MO. Rob was kind hearted with a genuine concern for others, and a willingness to give of himself. He dedicated himself to the community in which he lived. Rob was an active member of the non-profit Gleaners, a fraternal organization that performs works of service for the needy. He served as their Chaplin. Rob was also active at the Clancy Street Ministry where he managed their community garden which was his passion. Rob never had much, but was always willing to give what little he had to others in need. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 10:00 a.m. at St. Robert of Newminster Catholic Church, 6477 Ada Drive, Ada, Rev. Leonard Sudlik presiding. Interment Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 2-4:00 p.m. and 7-9:00 p.m., with vigil at 7:00 p.m., at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids.
