WITHAM. Robert C. Witham aged 85 of Grand Rapids passed away unexpectedly and at peace surrounded by his family on July 10 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Pearl Witham. Surviving are his wife of 61 years Audrey; his children Robert (Annette) Witham Richard (Kara) Witham Rebecca (Bill)Spence Barbara (Joseph) McCargar Julie (Brad) Boyle Mary (Michael) Balke and Wendi (Gerald) Moore III; grandchildren Thomas (Karen), Daniel (Lori) Witham Lauren (Matthew) Milanowski Paul Jesse Solana and Micah Witham Kelley Blair and Mitch Spence Rose McCargar Nick John and Katie Boyle Brian Benjamin and Ann Balke Matthew Emily and Sam Moore; sister Marilyn Witham; 5 great-grandchildren. Bob served his country proudly in World War II in the European Theatre as a supply clerk with the rank of Corporal. He came from his home in Ft. Wayne Indiana to attend Aquinas College and there he met Audrey the love of his life. Bob was completely devoted to his wife and family he enjoyed doing all the jobs required for the upkeep and improvement of their beautiful home. Bobs long and varied work career included: Lear Weber Showcase VanWood Chemical and his favorite serving customers at Builders Square in his retirement years. Besides volunteering to help anyone in need and lend his expertise Bob helped at the annual Hollyhock Lane Parade for decades. He was a longtime active member of St. Stephen Catholic Church where he was a Boy Scout leader usher lector and willing helper in many other areas. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered July 14 at St. Stephen Catholic Church 750 Gladstone SE. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM. Visitation July 13 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd. SE. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Aquinas College Annual Fund or the St. Stephen Education First Fund.
