ONAN – Richard E. Ozzie Onan age 82 of Lake City formerly of Lowell passed away October 12 2008 and went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Helen Onan. He graduated from Lowell High School in 1944 and spent the following two years in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He attended Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo College receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree with majors in chemistry and math. He was employed by Dow Chemical Company for the next 28 years with assignments in various parts of the U.S. and Europe. Dick and his wife Ida enjoyed many years of ballroom dancing. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 28 years Ida M. Onan; his sister Ilene DeWolf of Lowell; children Richard E. (Sue) Onan Jr., Patrick (Rose) Onan Philip Onan Kathleen (Richard) Communale Rosemary Onan Paul (Ann) Onan Michael (Helen) Grant Kathleen (Jim) Cook Dan Grant Steve (Laura) Rosendahl Laurie Lewis Teri (Rob) Irwin; 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. at the Roth-Gerst Funeral Home 305 N. Hudson Pastor Larry Shetenhelm officiating. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
