Richard J. Miller, 78 of Grand Rapids, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2015. Dick was born March 29, 1937 to Edwin and Bess Miller. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1955 and Kalamazoo College in 1959 and was married to his wife, Jeannine, for 56 years. He was employed at Modern Plastics for his entire career, and was Director of Quality Assurance. Dick and Jeannine moved from St. Joseph to Grand Rapids in 2013. They were avid rockhounds, specializing in crystals and minerals and were very active in Blossomland Gem and Mineral Society. Dick was involved in community events and chaired numerous organizations. He held leadership roles in his international professional organization, Society of Plastics Engineers and received numerous awards. Survivors include his wife, Jeannine of Grand Rapids; son, Daniel (Pam) of TN; daughter, Janet (Tim) Friske of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Karen (Josh) Knight, Kimberly Miller, Kyle and Erin Friske; also soon to be born great grandson, Gavin Knight. He was preceded by son, Michael in August of 2014 and brother, John Miller on October 30, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 11:00 a.m. at St. Robert of Newminster Church, 6477 Ada Dr., Ada. Rev. Leonard Sudlik presiding. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Robert of Newminster Church or Gentiva Hospice.
