Michael “Mike” Lally, age 61, of Ada, MI, entered his new life with Christ on October 26, 2021. He was born on July 24, 1960, in Greenville, MI, the youngest of three children to John “Jack” Lally and Aileen (née Dove) Lally. He grew up in the Belding area, where he graduated from Belding High School. After high school, he attended Grand Rapids Junior College and Michigan State University, where he finished his bachelor’s degree in 1984. On November 28, 1992, he married the love of his life, Jane Gentry, and together they raised four children. Mike is survived by his wife of nearly 29 years, Jane Lally; children, Alan Lally, Colleen Lally, Bridget Lally, and Brendan Lally; sisters, Maureen (Scott) Fleet and Kathleen Lally; countless nieces, nephews, and in-laws; his beloved college buddies from Michigan State University; and his beloved dog Daisy. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, John “Jack” and Aileen (née Dove) Lally; his mother-in-law, Jean Gentry; father-in-law, Robert “Bob” Gentry; and his other beloved dog, Sparty. Mike was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, who loved his Catholic faith, watching Michigan State sports, walking his dog, and playing trivia. He is best known for his appearances on his favorite TV game show, Jeopardy! and his favorite radio game show, NPR’s Wait! Wait! Don’t Tell Me!, where he won Carl Cassell’s voice on his home answering machine. Visitation will take place on Sunday, October 31, 2021, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM with a rosary at 7:30 PM at Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305 N. Hudson Street SE, Lowell, MI 49331. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Monday, November 1, 2021, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4351 Parnell Ave NE, Ada, MI 49301. Presiding will be Rev. Tom Cavera. Interment will immediately follow at St. Patrick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Patrick School, 4333 Parnell Ave NE, Ada, MI 49301, or the Humane Society of West Michigan, 3077 Wilson Dr NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49534.
