Michael Edward Serne

SERNE – Michael Edward Serne age 64 of Ada passed away peacefully on October 8 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 45 years Joann; children Teresa (John) Elliott Michelle (Stephen) Doyle Kristen (John) Scheffler; son Michael Serne (Sara Nash) and Karen Selders; seven loving grandchildren Jared and Myla Elliott Caitlin Michael and Anna Doyle Collin and Marisa Selders; brother Patrick (June) Serne; sisters-in-law Jeanne Serne Eleanor Serne Christine Serne; mother-in-law Virginia Van Tassell; brother-in-law John (Kathi) Van Tassell; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Doris Serne; brothers William James and Thomas Serne. Mike joined his father’s milk hauling business right after graduating high school and was most proud of forming a partnership with his son Mike. He dearly loved his job and continued working until the end a total of 45 years. His greatest loves were spending time with his family and his faith in God. He touched the lives of those who knew him with his kindness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on October 12 2009 at 11 a.m. St. Mary’s Catholic Church 402 Amity St., in Lowell with Rev. Eugene OKoli celebrant followed by internment at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. at Roth-Gerst Funeral Chapel 305 N Hudson Lowell. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
