MARVIN ANDREW LOUKUS, age 79, devoted husband, friend and father, went to be with his friend Jesus. “Why do you seek him here? He has gone to his father.”
Those who cherish his memory are his wife Virginia (Cullinane); daughters Mary Ellen (Tony) Gedris, Rita (Doug) Petteys, Nancy (Karin) Ballast, Noreen (Tremayne) Ralston; brother Russell Smith; brother-in-law Daniel Cullinane; grandchildren Vincent, Neil, Sophia, Tristen, and many nieces and nephews. Marvin grew up in Lake Linden, MI with his brothers Charles, John, George, and Russell. Marvin was deeply proud of his Finnish roots. He completed high school (Lake Linden / Hubbel), served in the US Army, and later attended GRJC. Marvin worked for the Dept. of Transportation for many years. He met and married Virginia and helped her raise four girls, and was very proud of their achievements. They will especially remember Saturdays at the library with him and trips to Saginaw and the U.P. He was a great example of how to live as a Christian. He was an active member of his church and gave to mission work. His hobbies were bowling, church suppers, building clocks, reading, telling jokes and his bus trips with his wife and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, December 21, 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 1449 Wilcox Park Dr. S.E., Grand Rapids. Rev. James Chelich presiding. The family will greet friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Tuition Angel Grant Fund of St. Thomas the Apostle.
