Mark R. Hoffhines, age 57 of Grand Rapids, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016 after a courageous battle with melanoma. He never gave up hope. Surviving are his wife Abby Hoffhines; precious sons Matthew, Carl (Katherine), Adam; mother Donna Hoffhines; brother Dan (Heather) Hoffhines; sister-in-law Marilyn Wright; nephews Kyle, Everett, Anderson; soon to arrive granddaughter, and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his father William Hoffhines and brother Michael. Mark loved life, loved his family, City of Grand Rapids, sports, especially golfing at Thousand Oaks Golf Course. He lived every moment of his life, loved to travel, dining out, fine wine and a good card game. He graduated from Forest Hills Northern in 1977 and Albion College in 1981. He was happily married at age 20 for 36 years. His career was banking and was in commercial loans for 35 years starting and ultimately ending with Comerica Bank. He also helped start and worked at Mercantile Bank for 12 years. He was a conversationalist and salesman. Wherever he worked he thrived on his business relationships and some of those customers became lifelong friends. Visitation will be Friday 4-7:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids. Memorial Service will be Saturday 11:00 a.m. at First Park Congregational Church, 10 E Park Pl NE, Grand Rapids. Rev. Todd Petty officiating.
