Lorna L. Leggett- Challa, age 87 of Grand Rapids, born in Wexford county November 16, 1925, entered her eternal home of rest on September 10, 2013 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. She was a resident at the facility going on 8 years battling dementia and Alzheimer’s. She was preceded in death by her parents Orman Decker, Clem Kranz (step father) and mother Lulu Bell Kranz. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers, Mrs. Winnie Brow, Mrs. Olive Taylor, Mr. Etherd Decker and Chet Decker who is buried in France. Her parents and siblings were all residents of Traverse City, Michigan. Lorna buried her husband Theodore Challa on August 23 of 2003. She will be greatly loved and sadly missed by her son Gary L. Leggett of Grand Rapids, a daughter Pamela (Challa) Cullimore of Ada and her only grandson Jordan A. Stothers also of Ada, along with several nieces and nephews. Lorna enjoyed reading, cards, bingo, arts and crafts and crocheting and re-fused food so she could enjoy her favorite MilkyWay candy bars. The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Michigan for their care and support in Lorna’s final days. Visitation will be Friday 6-8:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Home, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids with a private funeral service held at a later date. Interment Graceland Memorial Park and Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to a Charity of One’s Choice.
