GARY, LAWRENCE M., age 92 of Ada, died Sunday, December 7, 2014 (Pearl Harbor Day). He was born to the late George and Irma Gary, January 1, 1922, in Wheaton, IL. Larry graduated from Wheaton High in 1941 and attended Wheaton College. He was a decorated WWII Veteran serving in both the European and Pacific Theaters in the 86th Blackhawk Division. He married the late Joan C. Gary (Casey) in 1947, and they lived together in Hastings, MI before relocating to Ada in 1962 when Larry founded his successful beer distributorship, Kent Beverage. He retired in 1991, but his dream continues to thrive and grow, now as Alliance Beverage Distributing. Larry, also known as Little Red, Pappa Joe, Boss or Bumpa will be remembered for his kind, generous nature, his love for reading westerns, watching Walker Texas Ranger and a good game of cribbage. Larry loved raising and racing his horses and always looked forward to his annual Canadian fishing trips. Larry is survived by his children, Kevin (Sandra) Gary of Mount Pleasant, SC, Kim (Pam) Gary of Rockford, Shawn (Linda) Gary of Grand Rapids Twp., Brian (Melissa) Gary of Ada, Bridget Gary-Jackson of Rockford, Shannon (Molly) Gary of Cascade Twp.; 16 grandchildren, Crew, Tyler and Tanya; Brendan, Michelle, Brianne and Melissa; Ryan, Shane, and Meagan; Joan, Casey, and Nick; Connor and Patrick; Aidan and Marianna; 2 great-grandchildren, Brayden, Brynn; brothers, Edward (Mary) Gary of Portland, Oregon, James Gary of Chicago, IL; and family friend, Angela (Pat) Scripps. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 11:00 a.m. at St. Robert of Newminster, 6477 Ada Dr., Ada, Rev. Leonard Sudlik and Rev. R. Louis Stasker con-celebrants. Interment Findlay Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 6-8:00 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice, 100 Michigan St. NE Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
