Kenneth W. Spencer, age 79 of Grand Rapids, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, April 1, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carol; three sons, Richard II (Rebecca) of Sarasota, FL, Peter (Dawn) of Jenison, MI, Patrick (Leigh) of Sarasota, FL; brother, Thomas (Kathy) of Phoenix, AZ; sister Shirley (the late James, Sr.) Lynch of Grand Rapids, MI; along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Evelyn; sister Nancy; and brother Jerry. In 1954 Kenn joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at McGuire AFB in Wrightstown, NJ. After his discharge, he moved to Grand Rapids where he began selling and leasing cars for several area dealerships. In 1965 he prayed to receive Christ as his personal Savior and began his journey as a follower of Christ. Kenn’s entrepreneurial spirit was represented in several businesses, including founding Colonial Packaging in 1975 and his involvement in MegaWall. Kenn served God, Calvary Church and his community. He was a generous man, one with a servant’s heart. He will be greatly missed. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids. A memorial service will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Pastor Jim Samra and Pastor Jim Carlson officiating. Interment Fort Custer National Cemetery.
