Kathryn (Kloosterman) Buttrick Wingeier, age 90, left her earthly body Sunday, June 18, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Mildred (Schwab) Kloosterman; two husbands, Grover Buttrick and Walter Wingeier; brother and sister-in-law, Berwyn and Shirley Kloosterman; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, C. Harold and Frances Buttrick. Kathryn is survived by her children, June (Doug) Vander Molen, Elwood (Renee) Wingeier, Alan (Cathy) Wingeier, and Carolyn (Terry) Cavanaugh; sister, Reathel (Austin) Waldron; grandchildren, Derek Vander Molen, Bethany (Seth) Hughes, Alex (Robyn) Wingeier, Robert (Kristen) Wingeier, Chris Germann, Eric (Jennifer) Harms, Patrick (Myla) Cavanaugh; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. Kathryn also leaves a devoted friend, Jane Wood and her “adopted” family members, Christine (Bill) Brooks and family, Tom (Diane) Cribley and family, Hollis B. Locke II and family. Kathryn loved being part of the “heart” of Cascade – taking care of firefighters, deputies and teens that showed up at her door. In later years she made quilts for friends, family and Cascade Christian’s Second Mile House, where she volunteered for over 40 years. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 20, 4:00-7:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids. Services will be held Wednesday, June 21, 1:00 p.m. at Cascade Christian Church, 2829 Thornapple River Dr. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Rev. Jill Forton officiating.
