SHEPARD John Joseph Shepard aged 81 of Grand Rapids passed away July 7 2008. He was preceded in death on March 14 2008 by his wife Marjorie. He is survived by his children Stephen and Susan Shepard Michael Shepard David and Joyce Shepard; grandchildren Cristina Jodi Christopher Brian Jessica Rozanna John Jr., Emily Michael Jr., Marjorie Shawn and Michelle; great-grandchildren Cody Ashley Adam Candice Lilly and Alivia. Mr. Shepard ran Shepard Broadcasting for more than 50 years including radio properties in seven states across the U.S. John served on the board of directors for the Mutual Broadcasting Systems as well as ABC Radio Network the board of the Michigan Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters and on the Grand Valley State University Board and Foundation for over 30 years. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered. July 11 at St. Stephen Church 750 Gladstone S.E. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd., S.E. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grand Valley State University/Marjorie & John Shepard Scholarship Foundation.
