Janet Y. Johnson, age 86 of Lowell, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip, in 2004. She is survived by her two sons, Blake (Rosalie) Johnson, Brook Johnson; sister, Cara Croninger-Young; grandchildren, Frankie (Jennifer) Munizzi, Joseph Munizzi, Jimmy (Pamela) Munizzi, Skylinn Johnson; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Vincent, Victoria, and Angelo; and many nieces and nephews. Janet was born in Caledonia in May of 1931, where she lived on a farm with her sisters and brothers near Kettle Lake. She graduated from Caledonia High School in 1948. She continued to pursue a career in art at the Kendall School of Design, where she met her husband, Phillip Johnson. Janet continued her education at the Ringling School of Design in Sarasota, Florida. Over her career in the arts, she was an art teacher and a free lance artist. She was a publication designer and retired from Amway as an Art Director in 1994. She was amazingly active in the local arts community. She was one of the founders of Lowell Arts and was a charter member of the Flat River Gallery. She was a member of the Grand Valley Artist Association. She had many amazing friendships with this community. Funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the First Congregational Church of Lowell, 865 Lincoln Lake Ave. SE, Lowell; with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
