James William Decker, age 85 of Ada, went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 8, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph & Dorothy Decker; brothers, David, John, Michael; and sister, Barbara Ritchey. Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia L. Decker; sons, Erik J. (Sue) Decker, Aaron J. (Ginger) Decker, Andrew J. Decker; grandchildren, Zachary (Lauren) Decker, Rochelle Decker; step-grandchildren, Matt (Amanda) Baker, Paul Galloway; step-great-grandchildren, Lillian & Madelyn; sisters, Eleanor Cook, Virginia Boggs; and many nieces and nephews. Jim was a retired schoolteacher from Grand Rapids Public Schools. He was an avid woodworker, and passionate about visiting people in nursing homes. Jim was a beloved husband and father who will be missed by all. Services will take place 12:00 pm Saturday, November 14, 2020 at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546, with visitation one-hour prior. Andrew Decker officiating. Covid restrictions will be enforced with social distancing and masks being required.
