James Dalton Command Sr.

James Dalton Command Sr., age 85 of Grand Rapids, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014. Jim was inducted in the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame in 1996 and was a major league baseball player for the Philadelphia Phillies. He was preceded in death by his wife, Paula. He is survived by his children, James Jr. (Kathy), Michael (Valarie), Judy Command, Paul (Mary), Ted (Irene), Tim (Marcia), Meredith (Tracy) Daniel; grandchildren, Katie (Dustin), Kori (John), Sean, Adam, Andrea, Madeline, Lauren, Haley, Dan (Sam), Stephanie, Maggie, Alissa (Zach), Alex, Max, Tyler, and Dalton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday 10:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus, 224 Carrier St. N.E., Grand Rapids. Rev. Pat Grile C.Ss.R presiding. Visitation Friday 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids and one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday.
