                Inta Everss, age 88 of Grand Rapids, MI, born December 12, 1935, in Iecava, Latvia, passed away Friday, March 29 at Corewell Health Blodgett Hospital with her daughter by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents Janis and Milda Bredikis; sisters Vizbulite “Vicki” (Visvaldis) Bole and Lilita (Chester “Chet”) Peterson; and brother Janis “John” Bredikis. Inta is survived by her husband Egons Everss; her two children Anita (Scott) Leistner and Andris “Andy” Everss; her two grandchildren Dillon (Emma) Leistner and Erika (Adam Sikkema) Leistner; sisters Ruta Buckingham and Ilze Abbott; brother-in-law Herbert “Herb” Everss (Edite); and sister-in-law Holli Bredikis. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and very special friend Ilga Kalnins.

                Inta came to the United States at the young age of 14, first residing in Hastings, Nebraska with her family. Eventually making their way to South Haven, Michigan, and then finally to Grand Rapids where she met her adoring husband of 64 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother who played an active role in her grandchildren’s lives. She was an excellent homemaker and worked for a short period of time at Kelvinator Inc.  In her free time Inta found joy in gardening and bird watching. Inta was a member of the Latvian Association and the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Grand Rapids.

               Services will be held at 12:00pm, Saturday, April 20, 2024, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Home, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 with visitation one-hour prior. Rev. Aija Graham officiating. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
