Guddi Kristensen

Guddi Kristensen of Muskegon Heights, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away on November 5, 2019 of accidental automobile injuries. She was born in the country of India. She was adopted into our family in 1985. Guddi means “doll” in one of the India dialects.  I suspect she looked like a little doll when they found her on the railroad tracks near Nagpur, India.  Guddi must of had a very rough start in life as a “street child” in India.  I can only guess what she had to do to survive.  (I have always believed that both of my girls were survivors)  Her life in India followed her to the USA and she was always fiercely independent as I suspect she was there.  She beat the odds of getting TB even though she arrived with the TB bacteria.  She also had something similar to Sickle Cell anemia.   She was married twice and was trying to get her life back on track.  Guddi was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.  She is survived by her 9 children; her mother Linda Kristensen and her sister Maigunn Kristensen of Grand Rapids and father Ole Kristensen of Alta Norway; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  To her family, Guddi will always be remembered as “Goody-Goody Two shoes” or “the Goodness”…..  A celebration of life and visitation will be held on Monday, November 11 at 12 PM at O’Brien Eggebeen Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids.  Interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
