Giuseppe Joseph Cucinella

Giuseppe “Joseph” Cucinella, age 90 of Grand Rapids, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Giuseppe and Giacoma Cucinella. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Frances; children, Joe (Becky) Cucinella, Jackie (John) Van Straten, Rose Cucinella; brother, Dominic (Pat) Cucinella of Byron Center; sisters, Rosaria Cucinella of Sicily, Lucrezia Cucinella of Sicily, Enza (Pietro) Zitto of Sicily; grandchildren, Joe, Gina, and Nick Cucinella, John (Marta), Phillip (Jill), Timothy (Natalie), and Christopher Van Straten; and precious great granddaughters Lydia, and Sofia Van Straten; also many special nieces and nephews. Joe worked at Grand Rapids Tile and Mosaic Co. as an installer of terrazzo, among other flooring, for over 30 years. He then started his 30 year pizza career as owner operator of JT’s Pizza Depot of Westgate. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Wendy Remele-Gray for the wonderful care given Giuseppe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows, 101 Hall St. SE, Grand Rapids. Rev. Theodore J. Kozlowski presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids and one hour prior to the service at the church. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Sunday.
