George Arnold Davis

George Arnold Davis, age 85 of Grand Rapids, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ausma Davis; children, Laura (Mark) Dulemba, Edvins (Martha) Davis; grandchildren, James, Alexandra, and Lauren Davis, Nikolas Dulemba; and sister, Mara Davis. George was born in Latvia and at age 12 fled with his mother and sister to Germany. They eventually came to Gibsonville, North Carolina under a sponsorship. He joined the United States Army after high school and then attended Aquinas College earning his bachelor’s degree. George retired from General Motors after 26 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, was a member of American Latvian Association of Grand Rapids, and lifelong member of Latvian Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, May 12, 2022, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 with visitation one-hour prior. Rev. Aija Graham officiating.
