LENNON Ellen Louise Lennon age 64 of Ada passed away November 9 2011. Ellen was the daughter of Harris Paul Steed and Louise Anna Rensland. She is survived by her husband Michael; her sister Beth Boothe and her uncle Jerome Bockheim. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Ann Lennon (Jorge Rivas), Mary (Roy) Heiniger Bobbie (Mark) Landauer; brother-in-law Daniel (Jane) Lennon; nieces Alicia Boothe Katherine Mae Lennon and Anna MaLi Bockheim; nephews Steven (Betsy) Aretz Matthew Lennon Rory Landauer and numerous cousins. Ellen was a graduate of Aquinas College and Michigan State University. Her passions were mathematics geography teaching and travel. She had visited all 50 states and over 40 countries. Ellen taught junior high at Blessed Sacrament and St. Jude Schools for over 20 years. Ellen recorded a weekly radio program for 12 years on Sight Seer Radio Reading Service for the blind where she greatly enjoyed being all the character voices as she read and described the comics. She was a licensed foster parent. Ellen played guitar and sang for school functions for many years. In retirement she learned tenor saxophone and played with the New Horizons Band. She also owned and operated the Swiss Alps Soft Serve in Rockford for several years. Ellen was a victim of Dementia with Lewy Bodies an incurable neurological disease with no known cause. The care compassion and support of Dr. Thomas Brink MD and Sharon Olson LPN Suzann Ogland-Hand PhD the staff at Pine Rest St. Marys Hospital and the Woods at Maple Creek was exceptional. Ellen loved these people and appreciated all their efforts. Ellen also wanted to say thank you one more time to her many classmates co-workers students family and friends who remained close to her during this difficult time. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church 1449 Wilcox Park Dr. SE Rev. Dennis Morrow presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Vigil service 6:00 PM. Visitation 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd. SE and one hour prior to the service at church. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers a donation to Sight Seer Radio Reading Service 213 Sheldon Blvd. SE #3 Grand Rapids MI 49503 or the Catholic Secondary Schools Cathedral Square Center 360 S. Division Ave., Grand Rapids MI 49503.
