Doris Ileen Ellis

On Friday, February 22,  2019, Doris Ileen Ellis passed away and went into the embrace of our Lord. Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother. She was born in Clawson, Michigan on January 5, 1927. In December 2017, Doris & Bob celebrated 70 years of marriage. She had 7 siblings growing up. She enjoyed life; she loved to garden, entertain family and friends in her home, and go out dancing with her husband. She worked at Detroit Race Course with her husband, Bob. She was an excellent card player and bowler. She enjoyed skiing with her children and grandchildren for many years, and was also an avid golfer. Her most precious memories came from the time spent on the lake with her family. She and her husband spent their retirement years between Boynton Beach, FL, Lewiston MI, and Grand Rapids MI. The family would like to thank Rochelle, Clara, the staff at Heather Hills and Sunrise of Cascade for their care & support. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ellis; and her daughters, Linda Hughes and Kathleen Bouwsma. Doris is survived by her son Dr. James (Julie) Ellis; son-in-law Dr. William (Veronica) Hughes; her grandchildren, Kimberly (Chad) Renner, Dr. Brian (Sibyl) Hughes, Kelly (Addie) Culler, Kara (Michael Cleary) Hughes, Robert Ellis, Ryan Ellis, Brett Ellis; her great-grandchildren, Drew Renner, Dylan Renner, Delaney Renner, William Hughes, Keenan Hughes, Aiden Culler, Holden Culler, Vivienne Cleary, and Henriette Cleary. Funeral will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 26, with a visitation one hour prior to the service, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Rev.
