DONALD JOHN ROWLAND

Donald “Don” John Rowland, age 83 of Cascade, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, May 3, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Elaine (Boelter); children, Jerry and Lois, Jim and Denise, Richard “Dick” and Margaret, Carol and Marv, Gary and Teresa, Ron and Sheri, Nancy and Dave; 29 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Susan; brother, Roger; son, David; and daughter, Kathy. A life-long resident of the area, Don retired from General Motors Company in 1985 after 37 years of service. He served in the US Army as an M.P. from 1951 to 1953. Visitation will be Monday 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Road, Grand Rapids. The family will have a private memorial on Wednesday at Cascade Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alto American Legion Post 528, 6052 Linfield Ave., Alto, MI 49302
