Donald Ernest Berends, age 66 of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 18, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rozza and Ernie Berends; brothers David Berends and Dean Berends. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cheryl; children Jeremiah (Elana) Berends, Joshua (Angela) Berends; grandchildren Jordann Berends, Alexander Berends; brothers Dick (Linda) Berends, Dan (Val) Berends; sister Judy Draismaa; sister-in-law Laura Berends; and many nieces and nephews. Donald served on the USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier while in the Navy. Visitation will be Friday, September 22, 5-8:00 p.m. at Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell. Funeral will be held Saturday, September 23, 12:00 p.m. at Roth-Gerst Chapel. Pastor Ken Ford officiating. Interment Alton Cemetery.
