Charles (Chuck) Rasmussen died on August 27th in Grand Rapids, MI. He was born April 9th, 1930, in Muskegon, MI to Gladys and Albert Rasmussen. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley who he was married to for 61 years. He has two siblings, brother Tom (Norma) Rasmussen and the late Karen (Gene) Fethke. Chuck leaves behind four daughters he would often refer to as “Charlies Angels”, Michelle (Blake) Woodard, Stacey (Scott) Greiner, Shari Hoatlin, and Shauna (David) Bayer. He had 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Chuck served in the Air Force during the Korean War, often spending long hours writing to his new wife back home. He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Elks. He loved horticulture and later in his life became a master gardener, sharing his talent by volunteering at the Meijer Gardens. He painted, cycled, ran, fished, golfed, bowled, played poker, and sang in his church choir. He loved adventure and dabbled in traveling by RV and the occasional dune buggy. He was true believer in family, a good friend to many, and a practicing Catholic devoted to his Faith. He was loved and will be missed.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am Friday, September 3, 2021 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1935 Plymouth Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506.
