Berfield “Bud” Acker, age 93 of Grand Rapids, passed away from this life on March 22, 2015. He will be greatly missed by all those that knew him. Bud was born April 23, 1921 in Alma, MI to Eva and Charles Acker. He was one of three brothers and one sister. On December 17, 1949 he married Ruby Maxine Bogart and together they raised one daughter and two sons, Karon, Randy, and Gary. He joined the Army and served in the Pacific theater during WWII and was discharged with the purple heart. In 1947 he was inducted into local 70 Plumbers Pipefitters and Service Trades Union. He retired in 1983. After retirement he and Ruby wintered in Mission, TX where they enjoyed warm weather and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Ronald; a grandson, Billy Kuehle; and his wife of 62 years, Ruby. He leaves his daughter, Karon (Richard) Baird of Greenville; sons, Randy (Ann) Acker, Gary (Cathy) Acker of Grattan. Also missing him will be grandchildren, Scot Baird, Jeff (Jennifer) Kuehle, Tom Cariano, Dennis Baird, Douglas Barid, Tara Cariano, Cody, Kyle, and Connor Acker; and great grandchildren Zackary, Nathan, Wyatt, and Braxton Baird, Maddy Wheeler, and Myles Kuehle. He also is survived by a brother DeWard; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Friday 11:00 a.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids. Rev.
