Barbara W. Wilson, age 87 of Grand Rapids, passed away October 2, 2022. She was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine L. Swanlund; father, Kenneth Halloran; brother, Ray V. Swanlund; brother-in-law, Fred C. Whitman; niece, Catherine Whitman Lopes. Barbara is survived by her children, Terri (Darrell) Hochman, Scott (Lorie) Wilson, Mike (Pam) Wilson, Sheryl Parker; grandchildren, Nicole Arnold, Dylan (Savanna) Wilson, Allie Wilson, Chad (Kelli) Wilson, Taylor (Christian) Hines; great-granddaughter, Kinsley Wilson; and sister, Virginia (Happy) Whitman. Barb graduated from Nazareth Academy in Kalamazoo, where she was the captain of the girls’ basketball team. She went on to work for Michigan Bell Telephone Company as an Operator Supervisor. She moved to California with then husband, Thomas J. Wilson, they married in 1958, from there they moved to Riverside Ca where they started their family, years later decided to make their permanent home in Dana Point, CA. Barbara made her way back to Michigan where she helped take care of her grandkids and dabbled a bit in real estate 1993-1995. She flew back and forth to visit with her daughter who still lives in California. Barbara ended up living on Cape Cod with her sister and brother-in-law to help with their mom, Catherine. After her passing they asked Barbara if she would like to live with them and she did for the next 15 years where she dabbled again in real estate on the advertising end, listing homes for sale in the local magazine. She loved being around any form of water, loved to read, and learn new interests. She loved her family dearly and will be deeply missed.
