William Edwin “Bill” Hall Jr., age 84, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Virginia Hall, and his sisters, Carol Guftafson, Geraldine Kindig, and Billie Stone.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Kathleen; his children, Amy (Phillip) Marinari, Jennifer (Mark) Federighi, Timothy (Sherri) Hall, Tammy (Dan) Hemmes, and Terrence Hall; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; his brother, Terry (Mary Jo) Hall; as well as many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A 1959 graduate of Creston High School, Bill went on to attend Grand Rapids Community College. He cherished summers at the family cottage on Emerald Lake, where he taught his children how to fish and enjoyed his mother’s home-cooked meals. A boating enthusiast, Bill owned and tirelessly maintained three boats over the years, spending countless weekends on Lake Michigan out of Grand Haven.
He was a long-time member of St. Robert of Newminster Catholic Church, who played in their golf league for 21 years with his friend, Tom. He also enjoyed attending local football games with his friend Bill. A proud and devoted Michigan State fan, he never missed watching a Spartan football or basketball game.
Above all, Bill loved dogs—especially Daisy, his loyal companion who rarely left his side.
Bill was the owner and operator of the Forest Hills 7-Eleven and a dedicated member of the community. He generously supported the YMCA and Forest Hills Public Schools.
He will be remembered with love and deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, at St. Robert of Newminster Parish, 6477 Ada Dr SE, Ada, MI 49301, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Tony Russo presiding.
