Victor Allen Scudder, age 68, of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Scudder Sr.; his mother, Veretta Janke; and his brother, Jake Scudder. Victor’s memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife, Karrie Scudder; his children, Cody (Megan) Ayars, Zac Cole, Dylan (Jenny) Olson-Cole, Peter (Lindsey) Scudder, Kate Scudder (Keanu Schoonover), and Anna (JJ) Steigenga; his ten adored grandchildren; his brothers, Phillip Scudder and Jesse (Marcia) Scudder; his sisters, Jodi (Keith) Hartlaub and Jamie (Chuck) Priese; and his best friend and brother, Bob Jordan; his many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family in Streator, Illinois, as well as his loyal canine companion, Bella.

Victor was a true sportsman at heart, finding immense joy in hunting, fishing and competitive clay target shooting. He felt a deep connection to the outdoors. Victor generously shared his passion with the next generation through his involvement with the scholastic clay target program, where he served as a dedicated mentor. His commitment extended to numerous conservation and sporting organizations, including the Kent County Conservation League, West Walker Gun Club, Qua-ke-Zik Sportsman’s Club, Ducks Unlimited, and Michigan United Conservation Clubs, among many other west Michigan clubs. Victor also had a fondness for anything with an engine, especially cars. However, his greatest joy in life was undoubtedly his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a supportive brother, and a loyal friend. His absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A Celebration of Life will take place from 3-6pm on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Kent County Conservation League, 8461 Conservation St. NE, Ada, Michigan 49301. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Michigan United Conservation Club or Scholastic Clay Target Program.

  1. Karrie introduced me to Vic three + decades ago. We never quite know what it is that makes two people who seem so different click. I attended their wedding, in the beautiful Michigan woods. It was a quick service, many mosquitoes were also we that day. I’ve been around awhile, and seen their relationship deepen and grow.
Vic was a man of conviction. He kept what was important to him close. He protected all that he loved with a fierce passion. He had those piercing blue eyes that looked you square in the face with a challenge laid down like a gauntlet. I respected him for his devotion, loyalty, and love that he had for his interests and his home that he and Karrie filled with a large, loving and complex family. Most of all I loved him for the strong unshakable bond he shared with Karrie.
He was a fiery blessing all his life, and will remain a part of us all for generations to come. We were so lucky to know him. Go with God.

  2. We are very sorry for your loss. Prayers to your family. Justin and Rhea Anes
