Thomas F. Hubert

Thomas Hubert, age 95, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 12, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Nancy Hubert; granddaughter, Madison Hubert; brothers, Ralph Hubert Jr., James (Mary Pat) Hubert, Pat (Donald) Whitehead, Jerry (June) Hubert; and brothers-in-law, Joe Niehaus, Dan (Carol) Niehaus, and Robert (Joanne) Niehaus. Thomas is survived by his children, Kevin (Pam) Hubert, Stephen (Barb) Hubert, Sally (Mike) Murphy, Roger Hubert, Katie (Julie Osterling) Hubert; grandchildren, Dan (Kristen) Hubert, Craig (April) Hubert, Joel (Anita Hernandez) Hubert, Maddie Murphy, Cara Murphy, Lindsay Murphy, Jack Hubert, Reuben Rosenblatt, Kaniya Osterling, Sage Osterling, Mira Osterling, Katie (Dan) Baker, Christopher (Brandy) Sprick; great-grandchildren, Duke Hubert, Lane Hubert, Gunnar Hubert, Costa Hubert-Hernandez, Ella Baker, Dylan Baker, Dawson Sprick, Anika Sprick; brothers-in-law, David (Debra) Niehaus, Roger (Maureen) Niehaus; and sister, Marie (Norm) Martin.

Tom was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana. He then attended the University of Cincinnati, graduating in 1953 with a degree in mechanical engineering. While in Cincinnati, he met the love of his life Nancy Niehaus. They were married in December 1953 and raised five children.

After spending two years in the army at Fort Meade, Maryland, Tom went to work for The Trane Company and attended a six-month sales training class in La Crosse Wisconsin. He then went to work as a sales engineer in the Cincinnati Trane office, calling on consulting engineers and mechanical contractors. In the summer of 1964, Tom became the district manager in Grand Rapids, covering the entire west side of the lower peninsula of Michigan. The Grand Rapids office won many sales awards from Trane corporate, and after 31 years, Tom retired at the end of 1995.

Tom enjoyed skiing, sailing, fishing, spending time at the cottage, tennis, golf, playing gin, and fixing any mechanical device in his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 750 Gladstone Dr SE, East Grand Rapids, MI 49506. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, on Tuesday, at the church, Father Stephen Durkee presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beacon Hill Benevolent Fund at, 1919 Boston Street SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506.
