Susan Moss Budzynski, age 83, of Grand Rapids, passed peacefully, with faith and grace on Friday, May 21, 2021. Preceding her in death are her parents Raymond and Eleanor Moss and her beloved husband of 57 years, Doug. She was the loving mother of Jenny Markel, Juliet (Jeff) Tompkins, Tim Budzynski, Wendy Budzynski, Melissa Budzynski (David Bulkowski), Max (Tammy Jo) Budzynski, and Paul Budzynski. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Jim, sister-in-law, Lill, Scott and Lori (Colin). She was cherished as “Grandma Sue” to her grandchildren: Matt, Chris, Adam, Katelyn, Ty, Conrad, Craig, Sophie, Noah, Liam, Addison, Natalie, Renee, Lenna, Aaron, Shelby, Melissa, Tammy; and 20 great-grandchildren. Sue had an enduring, ever-developing faith, and belief in justice that she shared with countless others as an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish for over 50 years. She loved enjoying the beautiful things of the world, especially those found in nature, but there was nothing she loved more than sharing her favorite poems, symphonies, stories, or books with those dearest to her. Sue will forever be remembered for the intimate way she had of making you feel like the only person in the room when she was talking and listening to you. All who were blessed by Sue’s earnest and intense love will dearly miss her kindness and sincerity. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 5, 2021, 10:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1449 Wilcox Park Dr. S.E., Grand Rapids. Rev. James Chelich presiding. Livestream on YouTube at https://youtu.be/qVDWH7n_1AI . Visitation Friday, June 4, 2021, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids. Please wear a mask inside. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her name to Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids, 1806 Bridge St NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504.

  1. It is absolutely true that Sue had a talent for making each person she knew feel so special and valued. I was among those who benefited from that. I will try every single day to spread love, compassion, and justice, the values Sue circulated, and I extend my sincerest condolences to her entire family.
