Shannon Hanley, of Lowell, passed away on November 10, 2024, at the age of 52 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Shannon was a world traveler who enjoyed hunting, camping, photography, and hiking, particularly in the Boundary Waters. Shannon was a beloved Director of Youth for First Congregational United Church of Christ of Lowell for more than 25 years. Shannon was a strong advocate for children and youth, as well as the LGBTQ+ community. She was an active volunteer with Lowell’s Open Table, and was instrumental in starting that organization, as well as the founding of Lowell Skate Park. Shannon graduated from Forest Hills Central High School in 1990 and Northern Michigan University in 1994. Shannon is survived by her son, Liam; her parents, Mary and Herb Early; sisters Melissa Hanley, Hiroko Solomon, Randi Prominski and Tiffany Leach; as well as 5 nephews, 5 nieces, and 3 great-nieces. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Roth-Gerst Funeral Home. Services will be held 2pm Monday, November 18, 2024, at First Congregation Church of Lowell, 865 Lincoln Lake Ave SE, Lowell, MI 49331, with visitation one hour prior. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Congregational UCC of Lowell Youth Group.
