It is with great sorrow to announce that Robert Louis Gedritis passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, at the age of 90. Robert is now lovingly reunited in heaven with Agnes (Kelly) Gedritis, his beloved wife of 62 years. Robert is survived by his children, Robert Jr., Mary Ann (John) Steinberg, Laurie Smith (Duane Hausch), and David (Stacy) Gedritis. Robert cherished his grandchildren, Rebecca Sietsema (Kevin), Mark Gedritis (Allison), David Steinberg, Luke Steinberg (Jenna), Colin Smith (Mackenzie Wilcox), Kiera March (Nathaniel), Jack Gedritis, and Anna Gedritis. Robert joins his parents, Helen (Petronis) Gedritis and Anthony “Tony” Gedritis; and sisters, Barbara, Elizabeth, and Marcella in Heaven.
Growing up on the family farm in Belmont MI, Robert attended Rockford High School where he played football. He met Agnes, the love of his life, and got married at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on October 5, 1957, where they were lifetime parishioners. He loved his family with all his heart and was happiest when spending time with them.
Robert built a life anchored in hard work, generosity, honesty, integrity, and an endless devotion to those he loved. He drove a truck for Spartan Stores for over three decades without an accident. He especially enjoyed the many years of traveling to track meets, cross-country meets, road races, and taking photographs at the events. Robert had a passion for bowling, fishing, and going to stock car races. Beyond his hard work and dedication to his family, Robert will be lovingly remembered as the neighborhood’s unofficial ‘snow angel.’ Armed with his trusty snowblower, he took immense pride in clearing the way for his neighbors after every storm.
Most importantly, his life was guided by his Catholic faith and love for God. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family.
The family would like to thank the caregivers from Emmanuel Hospice and Porter Hills Village for lovingly caring for Robert.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM on June 26, 2026, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1935 Plymouth SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49506, with visitation one hour prior. Fr. Troy Nevins officiating. Interment Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
Robert and Agnes were passionate, lifelong supporters of Catholic education and request memorial donations be directed in his name to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Killgoar Foundation. Donations in his name can be made online in Robert’s name at https://killgoar.flocknote.com/give.

Laurie and Kiera, so sorry for your loss 😢!! What a wonderful father and grandfather!! We wish we could have met him because he sounds like such a solid, dedicated man—the type we need more of today! We are praying God will be very close to you both as you now navigate life without him physically—however he will always be in your hearts!
