Robert (Bob) K. Hick, age 87, of East Grand Rapids, MI, passed away on April 4, 2023, at his residence with son, Andrew, at his side. Bob was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Marie “Mimz” Hick and is survived by sons, Andrew (Suzy) and Dr. Paul (Dr. Lisa) and five loving grandchildren, Jennifer (Will), Amy, Martha, Susanna, and Lake. Bob is also survived by his brother, Dr. John Hick. Bob grew up in Oak Park, Illinois, studied Philosophy at Monmouth College, and earned a JD at the University of Minnesota. Bob and Mimz moved to Holland, MI in the early 1980s for a fresh start and to pursue interests in sailing, fly fishing, and for Bob to practice law.
Bob was an animal lover with a broad range of interests including history, the German language, physical fitness, and in his final years, bible study. He was especially dedicated to his dogs, Alfie, Charlie, Sandy, Rocko, and Sammy. Towards the end of his life, Bob was fortunate to befriend Sharon McFarland who led him in bible study. Kelly FitzSimons, another dear friend, spent many hours with Bob, and they both shared a love of dogs.
