Paul George Wetherbee

Safe and at peace in the arms of Jesus, his Lord and Savior, Paul George Wetherbee, 94, of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away on July 9, 2024. He was born on May 27, 1930 in Portland, ME to George Brown Wetherbee and Margaret Evangeline Wetherbee (Hanson).

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Katherine Farnbacher (Wetherbee). He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Nola Anne Wetherbee (Witts-Davis); his son, Jeff Wetherbee, and daughter-in-law, Karen Wetherbee (Langston); his daughter, Shelley van Gilse (Wetherbee), and son-in-law, Robert van Gilse; his son, Mark Wetherbee, and daughter-in-law, Diane Wetherbee (Roth). He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Paul earned an undergraduate degree from Yale University and an MBA from Columbia University. He had a distinguished career working at Ford Motor Company, Chrysler Motor Company, and Wetherbee Realty. He was a long-time board member at Evergreen Trust Fund.

Paul was an active member of the Golden K (Kiwanis) and Mayflower Church. He dedicated much of his time to volunteering with The Red Cross, participating in eight disaster relief trips, and serving as a courtesy driver. He also contributed to the Stevens Ministry.

He enjoyed sailing, boating, tennis, golfing, reading. He loved singing, driving, writing poetry, dad jokes and spending time with his family.

The family would like to thank the staff of Faith Hospice, Corewell Health Heart Center, and our friends and family who gave tremendous love and care to Paul and Nola during this time.
