Paul Anton Dressel, age 84 of Cascade, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, September 21, 2018. He bore his illness with dignity and good cheer to the end. Paul is survived and will be deeply missed by the love of his life, his wife of 61 years, Rosalyn; children, Brian (LeNore) Dressel and Lisa (Michael) Harrald; and five granddaughters. Paul proudly served his country in the Korean War. In retirement, Paul enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling the world, spending summers at the family cabin in Canada and wintering in Florida. As an avid fisherman, his great joy was fishing and creating memories with his son and granddaughters. He loved to read, play bridge, wood working and other outdoor activities. Paul was admired and respected by friends and colleagues alike as a teacher, counselor, principal and superintendent in the Michigan Public Schools. He earned his PhD at Wayne State University and finished his career as a professor at Ohio University. Paul lived a life of service. He was dedicated to providing and improving education for all people. As a Director of the Southeast School Districts, he served as a member of the Ohio School Board Association. Paul was instrumental in getting fairness and equal funding for the Ohio Public Schools. In 2006 he was one of eight alumni awarded the Outstanding Alumnus Award by the Bowling Green University Alumni Association. During his adult years, Paul served five churches in many different capacities. Most recently, Paul and Rosalyn became members of Mayflower Congregational Church. He was active in his community, church and educational organizations throughout his lifetime.  His final gift of service was to the University of Michigan Medical School Anatomical Donations Program. A private service and celebration of Paul’s life will be held at his beloved family cottage. The family would like to express a special thank you to the loving and caring staff at Emmanuel Hospice.
