Patricia “Panagiota” Agon

12/06/1937
06/29/2023

Patricia “Panagiota” Agon, age 85 of Grand Rapids, MI., passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023, with family at her side and our Lord in Heaven awaiting her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kyriakos and Evgenia Grafos; and her husband of 64 years, George Agon. She is survived by her children, Andy (Donna) Agon, Angelo Agon, Charles (Mary) Agon, Christos Agon; sisters, Maria (John) Petridis, Eleni Manolakos; brothers, Nick Grafos, Vasili Grafos; grandchildren, Alexandra, Brianna, George, Erika and Niko; along with many nieces and nephews around the country.

Patricia was born in 1937 in the beautiful village of Sykea, Greece…The Land of Figs. She was the oldest of five and went straight to work on the farm at the age of 10. As she grew older, she became a nanny in Athens and began learning how to cook the most delicious meals in the world. It was these virtues that gave her the opportunity to get a Visa and travel by ship from Athens to Halifax/Montreal – Canada, a very long journey for a young lady of 19. Soon after, and with the help of close relatives, she would meet George, the love of her life and move to Grand Rapids to raise her boys.

In March of this year Patricia retired from Agon’s Restaurant after 55 years. She loved our customers and treated everyone like family. Along with cooking, she loved listening to Greek music, talking with friends and family, and hosting holiday dinners, especially Christmas. She was also a previous member of Holy Trinity Philoptochos and devoted servant of the Greek Orthodox faith. Momma, we will miss you and love you forever. You were the sweetest!

Funeral services and visitation will both be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 330 Lakeside Dr. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. Visitation is from 6-8pm on Sunday, July 9, 2023, with Trisagion Prayers read at 7pm. Visitation will also take place on Monday from 10-11am, funeral services starting at 11:00 am, with Fr. Joshua Pappas officiating and a luncheon to follow. The family would appreciate memorial contributions to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.

  7. Mr. & Mrs. Agon we’re everything that is GREAT about GOD’s children. They both lead by example and everyday treated every person like a KING & QUEEN. Whenever campaigning or doing my work in the Wyoming area AGON’s is the only stop (for many of us over the last 40 years) where you would always see familiar faces.
